THE Palace Theatre threw its doors open for the first time in 16 months to a sell-out success on Wednesday evening.

And now talented stars from the borough and beyond are set to tread the boards with a packed programme of forthcoming entertainment with tickets already on sale for the Christmas Panto. Oh yes they are!

Wednesday’s sold-out performance saw comedian Paul Smith take to the stage at the at the Grade 2 listed building which is managed by the borough’s Rubicon Leisure.

Managing director Simon Ingyon said: “After 16 months of being closed I am delighted that our first night back in business was a complete sell out and tickets for forthcoming shows are selling fast.

“And we are seeing similar success across Rubicon’s other venues too.

“Our summer season includes a Marvel Lego workshop at Forge Mill and free school meal activities at Abbey Stadium which is also host to the GB Modern Pentathlon training camp.

“I want to thank our customers for remaining loyal to us and showing such support – the show must go on!”

Council Leader Matt Dormer said: “It’s great to see the Palace doors open once more and our customers enjoying the show. I am delighted we can focus on continuing to unlock leisure across the borough.”
