Joy as Lotto stumps up bumper sum for Redditch charity

A REDDITCH charity has been awarded nearly £300,000 by the National Lottery Community fund.

The funding will allow Batchley Support Group to continue to deliver advice, tenancy support and mental health support.

The group is also looking to expand its workforce this year and recruit a volunteer co-ordinator to support the team of volunteers.

Melanie O’Connor, Chair of Batchley Support Group said: “The award is fantastic news and recognises the hard work and dedication of our management team, trustees and volunteers.

“We are happy that our core costs will be secure for the next three years with opportunity for future proofing our provision.

“The award will allow us to continue to support the community and to increase our support to meet the increased demand upon our services.”

Mark Barron, community development manager added: “We were nominated and won charity of the year and now this exciting news.

“I am delighted the community fund award will help us to increase our staff levels and allow us to continue support the community and develop new initiatives.

“I am looking forward to the challenges of the new year

“The charity is constantly growing in its work, so we need enthusiastic people to join our friendly team and would urge anyone with an interest in volunteering for our organisation to get in touch.

“We offer all volunteers training and support to enable them to carry out their work.”
