Joy of six golds for Studley

STUDLEY has once again clinched gold in the Heart of England – for the sixth time in a row.

The Warwickshire village also clinched Best in Category in the Small town division, based on size of population.

The delighted Studley in Bloom team are now keeping their fingers crossed that they’ll get a placing in the nationwide Britain in Bloom competition, with the results set to be announced at a glittering awards evening at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

“It’s absolutely brilliant – six golds in a row and I think it’s the fourth of fifth time we’ve won Best in Category – we’re thrilled,” said Gill Liebthal, chair of Studley in Bloom.

Their campaign has caught the imagination of not just local people but also the wider community, including prisoners at Hewell Grange who have pitched in to help.

Meanwhile the band of Bloomers have worked tirelessly to make sure the village looks its absolute best throughout summer and autumn and beyond.

“All eyes are now on October,” said Gill. “We’re realistic about our chances, we’re not going to win gold at a first attempt but hopefully we’ll get something.

“We’d like to thank PSW, Chantal and Matthew, Richard and Luke at Castle Nurseries, Hewell Grange Prison, the WI, parish council and all our sponsors.”

The Bloomers have also produced a calendar for 2017. Featuring beautiful photos it’s available for £6 at Rutters, PSW, Davis’, Lees + Thomas, Studley Florist and the Co-op.
