Junior football team celebrates after scoring a financial boost

A JUNIOR football team is celebrating after scoring a financial boost from a regional housebuilder, which will be used to purchase new team tracksuits.

Studley FC Under-18s has received £850 from Persimmon Homes South Midlands as part of its Community Champions project.

Each month the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 each to two groups or individuals through the match-funded scheme.

The team plays in the Midland Junior Premier League and as a league requirement, players must now wear team tracksuits to all games, meaning the club needed to purchase 20 tracksuits for the squad.

Anthony Fulcher, who applied for the sponsorship on behalf of the club, said: “It would cost the club £850 to buy the required tracksuits for the team. A cost that we simply couldn’t afford.

“Thanks to Persimmon Homes South Midlands, we can now buy the tracksuits. The lads will be very happy with the new gear, and we can now look forward to the season ahead.”
