Kingfisher cameras forge stronger links between school and pupils

RIDGEWAY Academy has just bought two video cameras along with video editing software thanks to Rotary and one of Redditch’s local clubs, Redditch Kingfisher.

With the current national lockdown the Academy has had to quickly build an online learning platform to equip all staff and students to carry on with their education, albeit in a different way.

However they needed equipment for staff to create video tutorial lessons to support students and parents at home, update parents on what’s going on and publicly congratulate children for outstanding work.

Putting together podcasts, they have been able to upload them on to You Tube and send links to all students and staff to access.

“Not only have the video cameras enabled us to communicate with our community but also to provide familiar faces and voices to our students to help give them a sense of normality and stability,” said headteacher Mike Bennett.

The president of Redditch Kingfisher Rotary, Elizabeth Webber, said: “Rotary is delighted it has been able to support Ridgeway Academy during this tough time for teachers and students alike.”
