THERE’S fun for all the family at scarecrow-making sessions at Redditch’s Forge Mill Needle Museum next week, ahead of a Bank Holiday weekend extravaganza.

All are welcome to special scarecrow character crafting sessions at the museum, this coming Wednesday and Thursday, August 22-23 from 11am to 3pm.

Just bring some old clothes along and you can buy the other materials to make your character for just £3.

Could yours be one of the best three scarecrows in Redditch this year, as judged by the Mayor of Redditch Councillor Juliet Brunner, and win £75, £50 or £25 of Kingfisher Shopping Centre vouchers?

Then Scarecrow Day itself follows on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 26 from 11am to 4pm, featuring a last chance to make scarecrows alongside children’s activities, pony rides and craft stalls.

Plus there will be live music from The Fidgets, a music workshop, and more.

Admission to Scarecrow Day includes entry to the museum’s featured Lego exhibition, ‘Brick Built’ and is just £1 for children, £2 adults.

Councillor Mike Rouse, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure and tourism, said: “My five year old has been mad about Minecraft lately and is really looking forward to making one of the characters from the game.”

Forge Mill Needle Museum & Bordesley Abbey Visitor Centre is on Needle Mill Lane, Redditch B98 8HY.
