REDDITCH’S sole female only football club – Kingfisher FC – has committed to anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out’s Equality Charter, becoming one of the first football clubs in the area to do so.
As a part of the Equality Charter, the club commits to working towards the eradication of discrimination in football and the promotion of equality, inclusion and diversity.
It means Kingfisher FC will have a closer relationship with Kick It Out’s grassroots, education and reporting teams.
This will allow club personnel access to educational workshops relating to equality, diversity and discrimination.
In tandem with the Equality Charter, the football club will be in discussions with Kick It Out to explore how to further engage with local communities.
This will include building on existing partnerships and seeking to foster new opportunities in our community.
Club equality officer Richard Field said: “Everyone in football has a responsibility to not only condemn discrimination but to be more proactive in tackling it. Kingfisher FC is proud to be a Kick It Out chartered club, demonstrating that we go further in promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
“By signing the Equality Charter this is the first step in eradicating hate in the game and ensuring everyone feels welcome and safe in football. It’s vital that we all work together towards this common cause.”
Richard added the club was proud to provide an inclusive offering to the girls and women’s game and welcomes new players.
Kingfisher FC, which is based at Woodfield Academy on Studley Road, is holding a development session on a Monday between 6pm and 7pm and anyone can attend.
Their next senior fixture is against Rugby Town Women on Sunday, November 21, kick off 2pm.
