Labour announce Redditch candidate for next general election

REDDITCH Labour Party has selected former Worcestershire County Councillor Chris Bloore as its candidate for the next general election.

Mr Bloore is from Wythall and is well known in local politics, having served as both a district and county councillor.

Outside of politics, Mr Bloore has served as the chief executive officer of Canada’s largest provincial tourism trade association.

He said: “I am running to represent the people I went to school with and grew up with in the area.

“They are my friends and my family and for 14 years local people have been let down by this Conservative government and deserve a fresh start.

“Public service runs through my family, my grandfather was a police officer for over 25 years and my mother worked in our NHS for over 30 years.

“It’s their example that I hope to emulate by giving local residents the chance to vote positively for change.”

Mr Bloore said he wanted to return maternity services to the Alexandra Hospital, and improve public services.

“The Conservative cost-of-living crisis is hurting everyone – higher energy bills, bigger mortgage payments, the weekly shop getting more and more expensive,” he added.

“As hardworking people struggle to manage, it’s no surprise that people are worried about the future of their children and grandchildren.

“Fourteen years into this government, people are asking themselves, do I feel better off?

“Have local public services improved and do I feel optimistic about the future?

“The resounding answer I’m hearing on the doorsteps is ‘no’ and that it’s time for a fresh start for Redditch and the villages.”
