THE general secretary of the Labour Party visited Redditch on Tuesday to help launch the local party’s election campaign.
Ian McNichol met party activists and local candidate Councillor Joe Baker to talk to residents in Fladbury Close even as the skies darkened and the heavens opened.
“We had a difficult time at the elections last year but the way we turn that around is by showing just what a difference the local Labour Party is making at a local level to local people,” said Mr McNichol.
“My message for the people of Redditch would be – look at the good work that has been accomplished here with Labour over the last few years in your local area. A Labour Council has delivered job creation, investment and apprenticeships – real prospects for young people here in Redditch.”
Coun Baker added: “It’s only the Labour Party that cares about what happens to ordinary folk. We are the only party that can bring change that will help everyone and not just the few.”
