SOUTH Redditch Sport Club is the place to be this Saturday, May 21, when a special fundraising match of ‘golden oldies’ is held in aid of Redditch Nightstop.

Reliving past glories will be the lads of Lakeside FC and Astwood FC for a bit of fun and fundraising before the focus switches to the Entaco Sports Club in Studley for a family disco, raffle and much more from 6pm.

“It all started with a chat between me and my pal and as a result we’ve pulled all the old faces together and we’re going to turn out for a match and all for Redditch Nightstop,” said Paul Crane, who admitted in was about 15 years since he last pulled his football kit on.

“We’ll all be carrying a few knocks and bruises we’ve picked up over the years but it’s going to be quite an occasion.

“I’m 40 years old this year, some of the players are going to be in their 50s and in all Lakeside FC spans some 30 years of lads playing football.”

The match kicks off at 4pm and it’s free to come down and watch.

In the evening the disco costs just £2 for adults, accompanied children get in for free and there will be a disco, raffle, food, bouncy castle and lots of prizes to be won.

Susan Sadler from Redditch Nightstop said: “We’re delighted the lads are going all out to support us.

” Their ethos for the match is heart-warming, and definitely relates to the ethos of our work ‘inclusion’.”

Redditch Nightstop is a charity that provide emergency accommodation and a range of services to help prevent homelessness for young adults, and their aim is to ensure every young adult has a safe place to call home.
