AS FINAL preparations continue for next months John Bonham A Celebration III, organisers are delighted to announce a further act to the line-up.

Joining the celebrations is the co-founder of the international rock band Thin Lizzy, and the Eric Bell Band.

The performance kicks off the Eric Bell Band tour of the UK mainland and the set will include classic hits such as ‘Whiskey in the Jar’ along with new music.

Event Director, Ros Sidaway said: “We are thrilled to have the Eric Bell Band join us to mark John’s 75th Birthday here in Redditch”

“Eric’s duelling guitar playing with Phil Lynott was legendary during those early Thin Lizzy years, and now, more as a blues musician, Eric continues to enthral audiences with his music.

He joins Birmingham’s own boogie blues band, Vincent Flatts Final Drive, Ceri Justice Band, Sundance, CODA- A Tribute to Led Zeppelin performing a special acoustic set, Taxi for Jesus (former members of the Trevor Burton Band), Blues duo Ritchie Dave Porter & Debra Susan, and, headliners Led into Zeppelin.

The event will be held under The Canopies in Redditch town centre on Saturday May 27.

The event raises vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust West Midlands with their specialist outreach teams based at Birmingham Childrens hospital, the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Northfield and the Queen Elizabeth.

Ros added: “This year, it’s been incredibly tough to obtain sponsorship to cover the costs of staging the event which totals around £15k.

“We still have packages available if any business, organisation or individual would like to be a sponsor.

“Or we can tailor a package to suit. “

Ros has stated that this will be her final festival as event director, a voluntary role that she’s fulfilled for the past five years.

Although she will still support her replacement as and when required to ensure future events continue in memory of John Henry Bonham.
