TIRED of the same old rubbish on the box? Then give yourself a treat and track down AJP’s wonderful take on Oscar Wilde’s timeless comedy.

The play, now touring locally around the county and beyond, tells of the damage malicious gossip can do and the battle to save the heroine from utter disgrace and disaster.

Nicolette Morgan simply owned the title role, turning in a superb performance that had the audience hanging on her every word and she struggled over her future.

Ben Darlington – playing his namesake Lord Darlington – was suitably selfish as the figure smitten by her whilst Liam Atton as Lord Windermere was excellent as the man in danger of losing his wife.

There was laughter a plenty thanks to the antics and versatility of Neville Cann and William Witt, the latter one moment the maid Rosalie, then Lady Agatha Carlisle before transforming into Mr Cecil Graham!

Then there’s Jen Rigby who brilliantly played both the Duchess of Berwick and the woman of intrigue at the heart of the play, the temptress Mrs Erlynne.

All in all, fantastic.

Not only that, but hats off to the costume designers too as Lady Windermere’s knockout turquoise outfit brought many a murmur of approval from the audience.

The production is now on tour, starting at Inkberrow village hall on Friday, June 13, then Eckington, Burcot and beyond. See https://auntyjenproductions.co.uk/whats-on/ for more details.
