Let there be music! Redditch tunes up to get everyone moving

Redditch Editorial 15th Jul, 2021   0

ARTS in Redditch are backing two new musical ventures in the town.

The initiative comes as part of the charity’s remit to support and promote all forms of creative activity in the town.

First up is an evening of jazz with the Bruce Adams Quartet next Saturday, July 24.

This appearance by world renowned trumpet-player Bruce Adams is being promoted by Palace Drum Clinic and takes place in the Kingfisher Centre as part of the 37th Birmingham Jazz Festival.

The second event relates to the town’s musical heritage, and forms part of this year’s ‘John Bonham A Celebration’ event on September 25.

A in Redditch is helping to fund a mobile music stage as a platform for local musicians to participate in this celebration of the life and work of Redditch-born drummer and Led Zeppelin stalwart John Bonham.

Arts in Redditch trustee Philip Roberts said: “whilst we are well-known for our support of the visual arts in Redditch, especially our regular pop-up galleries in the Kingfisher Centre, our support for a variety of performing arts events in the town is less well known.

“These latest projects show that we can help to underwrite new music ventures, especially if they involve novel venues or musical genres not often promoted in Redditch.

“Although our funds are limited, we will consider further projects, especially if they attract new participants and audiences.”
