THE Lets Talk Lung Cancer roadshow will be coming to Redditch Asda on Jinnah Road on Friday (October 28).

The Roadshow is a national tour of the world’s first walk-through lung exhibit which aims to increase awareness of the symptoms of lung cancer.

It features a giant pair of 12-foot by 15-foot inflatable lungs, which people can step inside to learn more about lung cancer, tumours and the effects of smoking from health professionals.

Last year lung cancer was the fifth biggest cause of death in England.

A cough that lasts for three weeks or more could be a sign of lung cancer, however, just 57 per cent of West Midlands residents that took part in a recent study knew this before being told.

Redditch is one of 26 locations in the roadshow, with other stops including Blackpool, Sunderland, Dudley and London.

NHS National Clinical Director for Cancer, Professor Peter Johnson, said: “Nearly 27,000 people die from lung cancer every year, but if we catch it early we can often cure it.

“So it is extremely important we find ways to help people to talk about their health and especially about their lungs, so we can give them the best possible treatment.”
