REDDITCH Liberal Democrats held two collections on behalf of Redditch Food Bank on October 28 and 30.
The Church Hill collections were run in response to the government voting against providing free school meals throughout school holidays.
Mark Tomes, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Church Hill, said “I was disappointed to see the Conservatives vote down the motion to extend free school meals over the holiday period and I wanted to do something to help.
“The community’s response following the vote has been staggering – groups, local businesses and other political parties have all stepped up to the plate to try and right that terrible decision.
“I have been humbled by all the donations we have received.”
