Redditch Editorial 20th Mar, 2021   0

THREE men found guilty of murdering talented Redditch musician Colton Bryan have been given life sentences at Worcester Crown Court.

Mohammed Saddam Hussain, 24, of Oakfield Avenue, Birmingham, who also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, Adam Carpenter, 21, from Wharrington Hill, Redditch, and Faisel Fiaz, 21 Millsbro Road, Redditch were found guilty by a jury of murdering Colton and conspiring to commit robbery on Monday, February 15, 2021.

Mohammed Saddam Hussain was given a life sentence for murder, to serve a minimum of 24 and a half years.

In addition he was sentenced to 10 years for conspiracy to rob and three years for perverting the course of justice, to run concurrent with the murder sentence.

Adam Carpenter was given a life sentence for murder to serve a minimum of 25 years.

In addition he was sentenced to 11 years for conspiracy to rob again to run concurrent with the murder sentence.

Faisel Fiaz was given a life sentence for murder to serve a minimum of 23 years.

In addition he was sentenced to 10 years for conspiracy to rob, also to run concurrent with the murder sentence.

During the trial the jury heard how a fourth man, Mohammed Hammad Hussain, Saddam’s brother, allegedly stabbed Mr Bryan before fleeing the country.

The sentences follow the incident on July 15, 2020 when Colton, who was 22 years-old, was attacked in his flat in Redditch and fatally stabbed.

Detective Inspector Mark Walters said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack resulting in the murder of a young man in his own home for which these three offenders have rightly been found guilty of.

The sentences issued by the court recognises the role that each of these individuals undertook in the tragic murder of Colton.

“Our thoughts continue to remain with Colton’s family at this extremely difficult time and will offer the family and all of Colton’s friends some measure of closure.”
