Litter picking Edward receives special award from Redditch MP

A KIND-HEARTED 10-year-old from Redditch is the latest resident to receive an Act of Kindness Award from the town’s MP Rachel Maclean.

Concerned about the amount of litter blighting his local area, Edward Kenny recently organised a litter pick at Morton Stanley.

The resourceful youngster contacted Redditch Borough Council to arrange the litter picking equipment and, with the help of his dad, collected 50lbs of rubbish.

Edward’s mother, Jo, then got in touch with Rachel to let her know about her son’s Act of Kindness.

Rachel said: “Given Edward collected 50lbs of rubbish and because he cares very much about where he lives, it was clear to me how deserving he was to receive an Act of Kindness Award.

“It is also very inspiring to see someone so young taking pride in where they live and wanting to improve it.”
