MP FOR Redditch Rachel Maclean met with representatives of the North Redditch Communities Alliance (NoRCA) MP at her constituency offices on Friday 4th of February to discuss the David Wilson Homes planning application.

The full application to build to build 216 houses on parts of Abbey Park Golf Course and adjacent land was lodged with Redditch Borough Council on 13th of December (ref21/01830/FUL).

NoRCA comprises residents of Beoley, Bordesley, Church Hill, Dagnell End Road and Hither Green Lane.

The group is concerned about the erosion of green open space, additional demands on local infrastructure, traffic congestion and impact on the environment.

Mrs Maclean said: “I was pleased to meet with members of the North Redditch Communities Alliance and to understand their concerns, regarding the planning application.

“As an MP I have no direct involvement in local planning decisions but I still take a close interest in these matters as these decisions affect the lives of my constituents”.

Mark Jacobs, chairman of NoRCA, said: “We thank Rachel for making time in her busy schedule and we feel it was a very useful and constructive meeting.

“When initially confronted by the David Wilson Homes planning application, presented very much as a ‘fait-accompli’ just before the festive season break NoRCA lobbied relevant Councilors and local MPs.

“As was confirmed at the meeting, the recent statistics published by UK Government indicate that Redditch has more than enough land allocated to future house building in order to comfortably meet its targets up to 2030.

“The proposed development at Abbey Park is therefore unnecessary and superfluous”.
