A LOCOMOTIVE hauled train is set to visit Redditch station whilst working an overnight railtour.
Two class 37 diesel locomotives will be hauling the railtour, named the ‘Night Owl’, when it arrives in the early hours of tomorrow (Saturday). One locomotive will be operating at each end of the train in what is known as top-and-tail formation.
The tour sets-off from Crewe at 10.58pm tonight (Friday), passes through Stafford and Birmingham, before arriving in Redditch at 1.00am. After a brief stop the tour departs Redditch at 1.15am for Matlock, and then Sheffield, before returning to Crewe at 8.35am tomorrow morning.
Peter Watts, General Manager of Pathfinder Tours said: “This excursion is aimed at enthusiasts who want to travel on traditional locomotive hauled trains, and also want to visit locations off the beaten track.
Unfortunately, we cannot visit Redditch when the Cross-City service is in operation, so we are visiting after the final passenger train has departed.”
