Lottery grant helps Redditch Community Shed continue

REDDITCH Community Shed has received much needed support and a helping hand from the National Lottery.

The charity has secured a grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery’s Awards for All, which will enable the participants to continue their much-needed work.

The charity aims to combat social isolation and loneliness, through shared practical activities, such as woodworking and crafting.

It provides a welcoming place to chat over a cup of tea, a place for opportunities for members to work together on projects and build camaraderie, and for some a reason to get up in the morning.

This is all done from its premises at the Kingfisher Centre, where the Shed has social and crafting areas, together with a woodworking workshop.

Treasurer of the charity Dean Bruton said: “We are thrilled to have been successful in obtaining a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery.

“The funding will go a long way to help us continue the fantastic work at Redditch Community Shed.

“Our aim at the Shed is to provide a safe place where mainly retired individuals can work on projects and hobbies and get involved in activities to improve their health and wellbeing.

“We would like to thank the National Lottery players for their contributions to the National Lottery that makes these Community Awards possible.

“Also a big thank you to our other sponsors in the last 12 months, such as the Asda Foundation, the Harry Payne Foundation, and the West Mercia Police.”

Redditch Community Shed is based at Unit 7, George Walk (at the rear of Primark), Kingfisher Centre and open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am. to 2pm.
