Lumley sweeps to victory with increased majority

KAREN Lumley won a stunning victory in the Redditch last night, retaining the seat for the Conservatives with a increased majority of 7,054 an increase of 1,223 over 2010.

On a tense night, the result was not declared until 6am.

After thanking the other candidates and the returning officer she said: “I’d like to thank the people of Reditch for putting their trust in me once again and it’s fantastic to be here again with an increased majority.

“I have enjoyed taking part in so many events in Redditch over the past five years and look forward to serving the borough for another five.




“We have achieved so much in growing our economy but there is so much more to do, we have a great health service and I will continue my fight for the lax to make sure we have great services in that hospital.”

The results were as follows:


Conservatives – Karen Lumley – 20,771 votes.

Labour – Rebecca Blake – 13,717 votes.

Liberal Democrats – Hilary Myers – 1,349 votes.

Ukip – Peter Jewell – 7,133 votes.

Greens – Kevin White – 960 votes.

Independent – Seth Colton – 168 votes.
