Magic in the air as Studley gets ready for Christmas lights switch on

Redditch Editorial 25th Nov, 2018   0

CHRISTMAS comes to Studley next week, with a variety of suitably festive events, writes Ryan Smith.

On Thursday, November 29, the Alcester Road and Christmas tree lights switch-on takes place at the Co-op site from 4pm to 5pm.

Then on Friday, November 30, there’s a packed day of events on Studley High Street.

The festivities start at 2pm with a Christmas market, arranged by Studley in Business, with festive gifts, drinks and hot food available.

At 5pm, Studley Parish Council will host the Christmas Fayre in the Village Hall, with craft stalls, tombolas and a community carol singing service.

The big Christmas Lights switch-on will be at 6.30pm, to complement the new lights which have been added to the Alcester Road.

Studley Parish Council vice-chair Councillor Colin Summers will be switching on the lights with Father Christmas and local children.

Studley High Street will be closed to all traffic an hour prior to the switch-on, and there will be a Children’s Lantern Parade led by Santa and the 1st Studley Scouts.

Children can assemble outside Studley Fish Bar at 6pm to join in the fun. Lanterns will be provided or bring a light of your own (battery lights only, no naked flames).

The High Street road will re-open at 7.30pm, with all events finishing at 8pm.
