MAJOR plans are in the pipeline for Redditch in 2019, says Borough Council Leader Matt Dormer, but to achieve them the Conservatives will have to win the local elections in May.
“This town has been treading water and it’s a fantastic town and it needs to be restored to where it was, to put some pride back into our town,” he said.
“I have been Leader for just seven months now but I am delighted at how much we have accomplished in that short time.
“Not only have we steered major projects to fruition, like creating a leisure company which will see better services and value for money for customers, but we have spent the last few months laying the foundations for future achievements.
“We are setting up a housing company which will see more affordable homes for residents, enabling them to stay in our borough, struck a deal with an energy company to quickly turn around empty properties and have won a contract to supply our Lifeline services to other area.”
He added the council was supporting businesses through making grants available to them and providing new income streams to community groups through the launch of a lottery scheme.
“In the New Year we are looking forward to continuing talks with Royal Enfield – to how together we can unlock Redditch’s potential,” he said.
“Until then I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.”
