Make a date with nostalgia in Studley

Redditch Editorial 19th Dec, 2017   0

NOSTALGIC calendars depicting Studley’s picturesque past have been created by the village’s local history group.

The spiral bound calendars for 2018 which feature 13 black, white or sepia images (front cover and months) have been produced by Karen Cording and are available for £5 each.

The aims of SLHG are to encourage study and interest into Studley’s history and to record and publish results of local research to safeguard archived local historic material.

Profits made from calendar sales will help fund the group’s aims.

Lisa McNee, a satisfied customer from Whangamata, New Zealand, said the calendars were definitely worth purchasing.

“Karen sent me the calendar, it is amazing.

“I feel like I’m taking a trip back in time to when my ancestors lived there.”

Lisa had been researching her family tree in Studley and Redditch and found Karen Cording on Facebook.

They are available from Studley Community Library, Studley Village Hall, The Needlemakers Arms and Brewin Book.

The calendar is also available at the Studley Local History Group’s Christmas meeting which takes place at 8.15am on Tuesday, December 19, at the Parish Centre. The meeting will feature a presentation on Local Law & Order prior to 1840 hosted by local historian Dr Richard Churchley.

The History Group will be offering of a small buffet and a glass of wine or fruit juice.

Admissions is £2 for members and £3 for guests.
