REDDITCH’S very own calendar girls have been busy this week, unveiling a saucy project that has already raised £750 for two heart-safe charities.
The women behind the The Tarts for Hearts calendar -which features 15 Redditch women aged 17 to 49 – met up with Rob and Maggie Underwood on Tuesday to launch their calendar, which will raise funds for the Redditch charity Craig and Charlotte Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF).
Thanks to photographer Paul Cotterill of Fiftymm Photography and the staff at Minutemen printers in Redditch, three copies were made available for auction and between them they fetched £750. This money is to be split between CCSHF and another defibrillator charity.
The rest of the limited edition calendars cost £10 each and as two anonymous donors and Pol Market Redditch have provided the funding for the project, every penny from sales can go to the CCSHF.
Founder of the charity, Rob and Maggie, said: “We were amazed at how quickly everyone worked on the calendar – they did it all in about four weeks.
“It’s so good to see real women – many of whom have hang-ups and body issues, just like everyone else – go that extra mile to support a cause like ours.
“There’s little touches that relate to Charlotte and Craig in there too, which was really lovely to see and that makes it extra special.”
Between them, the women featured in the calendar have 24 children, and 11 grandchildren – among them, Debbie Wickett from Matchborough.
Debbie hopes that the calendar will not only save lives by raising money for defibrillators, but have a positive impact on women in Redditch.
“We are a group of real women who dared to bare more than we normally would for charity,” she said.
“Some of us were nervous, some were unsure and some nearly backed out – but we didn’t and I am so proud of what we’ve achieved.”
