AN ONLINE fund-raising page has already raised hundreds of pounds for charity after being created in the wake of a man’s body being found in an Alvechurch bus shelter on Wednesday (March 9).

After hearing of the death kind-hearted Alvechurch resident Kate Van-Der-Plank started a Just Giving page to raise not only funds but awareness for Crisis – the national charity for single homeless people.

The page has so far raised £478 and Kate hopes residents will see it as an opportunity to react to the sad news in a meaningful way.

“While we don’t yet know the full circumstances, this week the body of a man, thought to be homeless, was found in a bus shelter in our village,” she said.

“Understandably, many of us feel sad and appalled but let’s not just talk about it – as a mark of respect and support let’s try and do something positive to help stop this happening again.”

Kate added the whole community wwas shaken and deeply saddened.

“We are quite sheltered in our rural and affluent village from homelessness – hopefully we can achieve something positive out of this tragic event.”
