ST BEDE’S Catholic Middle School has been re-accredited with the prestigious GL Centre of Excellence.
The success is a testament to the work St Bede’s has done working with other schools to support them in using GL Assessment effectively and making the most of all that the package offers.
GL Assessment is a company that runs assessments across the world, providing standardised age scores and vital information for teaching staff about gaps in pupils’ knowledge and provides suggestions for where to look for improvements.
This covers not only assessments in core subjects, but also dyslexia and dyscalculia screeners, and a PASS survey which helps diagnose attitudes to school and thus well-being and mental health issues of pupils.
St Bede’s has also been collaborating with GL Assessment in assuring the assessments are still rigorous and accurate, by trialing assessments with pupils in school and using the results to benefit their own pupils.
Assistant Principal Matt Russell said: “It has been a pleasure to work with such a forward- thinking company.
“The assessments GL Assessment provide have been invaluable to us, helping to diagnose gaps in learning and well-being issues which have been caused by the national lockdowns, and giving us the tools to close these gaps.”
