A MAN arrested for theft in Redditch is also believed to be linked to two burglaries in Droitwich and Drakes Broughton, where two cars were stolen.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for theft in connection with house burglaries, where key safes were broken into.

The man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle in the early hours of Wednesday (February 11) in Bordesley, Redditch.

It is believed he may be linked to two burglaries that happened the day before in Droitwich and Drakes Broughton, where two cars were stolen.

Both stolen cars have now been recovered by police, and the man remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Dave Knight said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Droitwich or Drakes Broughton in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact us, particularly those who may have captured footage on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell cameras.

“Our enquiries so far have led to a 21‑year‑old man being arrested in connection with the thefts, and he remains in custody while our enquiries continue. We believe other individuals are involved in this crime series, and my message to them is that my team are doing everything to bring them to Justice.

“We would still advise people to remove keys from outdoor key safes or reposition them somewhere well‑hidden and difficult for criminals to locate. Thieves are exploiting these opportunities to gain easy access to properties, so it’s important that people do all they can to keep their homes and belongings secure.”
