A MAN has died in Redditch after the car he was driving crossed the central reservation, hit a lamp post and stopped on the other side of the road.

The collision happened at 2.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday) on the A441.

Ambulance crews found the man, who was the only one in the vehicle, unconscious and his condition quickly deteriorated at the scene when he went into cardiac arrest.

It was discovered by staff on an ambulance and patient transport vehicle who came across the crash. And, after pulling him free from the car, they gave him CPR.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed another ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board were sent to the scene and joined those already trying to save the man’s life.

A WMAS spokesperson said: “Advanced life support continued on the man at the roadside but sadly, despite the teams’ best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
