EMERGENCY services were called to the town centre today, Thursday, October 8, after a man fell and struck his head by St Stephen’s Church.
The incident happened just before 1pm and police and two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
An ambulance spokesperson said: “On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a serious condition.
“Following treatment at the scene from ambulance staff he was taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.”
Police said the man had fallen and hit his head, but after being attended to by the paramedic was able to speak to officers before being taken to the Alex.
