MUCH-loved Redditch man Lorne Taylor was given a fond farewell last week, with more than 400 people attending his funeral.
Alongside his extended family and close friends at Redditch Crematorium on November 24, were people who had never met him – work clients from the haulage industry with whom he had built strong relationships. Some had come from as far as Dover and Bradford to pay their respects.
47-year-old Lorne, a father of two who was known for his warm and generous personality, sadly died of a heart attack in the early hours of October 20.
He had lived in Redditch since the age of nine months old and attended St Augustine’s High School, Redditch College and trained to be a chef, before spending a few years in the Merchant Navy.
The service included tributes from Lorne’s younger sister Kelli, his uncle and aunt Derek and Trisha Watson, and his mother Jane Taylor, who said: “I knew there would be standing room only, but had no idea how loved he was. It was amazing to see all those people there.”
Lorne leaves two children, Jessica, ageD 10 and James, aged nine, who live with their mother Sarah.
Instead of flowers, mourners were asked to make donations to the Charlotte and Craig Savings Hearts Foundation (CCSHF)
