A SPECIAL assembly was held at Matchborough First School to bid a fond farewell to headteacher Jackie Harris who has retired after 16 and-a-half years.
Every year group practised hard and sang a song for Mrs Harris and all the children signed a book for her filled with personal messages.
Jackie, who was appointed in 2007, has had a long illustrious career in education, working in both Birmingham and Worcestershire.
The school’s chair of governors, Juliet Brunner, said: “Jackie will be greatly missed and we are indebted to her for her dedication and commitment to the role.
“On behalf of the governors and school community I would like to wish her a long and happy retirement.”
Jackie also received gifts and cards from pupils and staff.
