A MASSIVE 24 hour ‘Beats and Bounce’ event is set to hit the Redditch airwaves in a major fund-raising drive to help sick children this Saturday, August 1 from 2pm.
It’s all in aid of Matts Mission Children’s Charity which has lost tens of thousands of pounds due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions preventing it from fund-raising.
A nationwide event, it’s being performed and broadcast on social media from a DJ studio on the Enflield Industrial Estate right here in Redditch.
The concept is simple – Redditch mum and daughter Claire and Jade Stokes, together with Matt’s Mission founder Matt Denning, will be dressed as superheroes and doing a 24 hour bounce-a-thon on a bouncy castle.
Meanwhile some top DJs will be laying down some great sounds in the studio.
“We have an amazing set up with lighting and screens and live broadcasting throughout thanks to ukeventservices.co.uk,” said Claire.
“We’ve also got some incredible DJs already on board.
“There will be live phone-in, games with prizes, and videos from our charity families shown on the big screens.
“You’ll be able to tune in on eight platforms and share and donate.”
Matt admits the charity – which has raised more than £300,000 for good causes – has become his life.
“My grandad got cancer back in 2009 and I started fundraising then,” he said.
“It was all too late for him, so I gave the money to the Children’s Hospital, and then decided to set up Matt’s Mission.”
Since then he’s done all sorts to raise money, including running up Mount Kilimanjaro.
“We basically grant wishes. We’ve take children to Lapland and all over and we have a holiday caravan too.”
It’s not only children the charity helps either – it delivered more than 4,000 food parcels in the pandemic after linking up with Sky TV and collecting at the Swan Centre in Yardley. The team also do hospital and hospice visits.
