FOR the fourth consecutive year, Kingfisher, Redditch will be the host to one of the biggest Star Wars collectable conventions in Europe.

Echo Base Live returns for Episode VII and will take place this Saturday, May 4, following on from the last event in October which attracted the largest audience to date, with more than 2,000 avid fans.

The success of the Echo Base Live events has helped the Echo Base Charity to raise over £23,000 in donations for a variety of worthwhile causes.

As well as offering an excellent range of vintage and modern collectable items from art and books to figures, the event also welcomes many special guests, including John Mogridge who is best known for playing a Death Star Gunner and Stormtrooper in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Joining him is Trevor Butterfield, who has played a variety of different roles in the Star Wars movies, including an Imperial Officer and a Stormtrooper in The Empire Strikes Back.

Hugh Spight, who was cast as a Gamorrean Guard and General Neeralli, will also be in attendance, as well as Simon J. Williamson, AKA Max Rebo, and Gerald Home, who played Tessek (Squid Head) and the Mon Calamari Officer in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

Last but not least, Bob Brechin, the chief designer for Palitoy between 1967 and 1984, will be available to sign autographs charged at £5 with the total amount going to a charity close to Brechin’s heart.

He will also be giving a presentation about his involvement with the Palitoy Star Wars line and will run a short Q&A session in the Angelpoise Suite at 3.30pm.

Entry will be £2 on the door with limited seating available on a first come, first served basis.

The event’s other special guests will also be available for meet and greet opportunities and signing autographs for visitors to purchase and keep as a memento.

Echo Base Live will be located opposite TK Maxx on Level 1 of Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch.

The event is free, with doors officially open at 10am on Saturday, May 4.
