BOROUGH Mayor Juliet Brunner was on hand to cheer the team on at Morrisons supermarket in Redditch last Friday as they kicked off World Cancer Weekend with a marathon 12-hour static bike ride to raise as much as possible for Clic Sargent young lives vs cancer.

Nationwide the company has raised more than £6million for the charity including funding nurse practitioners and paying for an arts team to paint superheroes on the masks many children have to wear while having treatment.

The cash has also helped pay for accommodation where families can stay while their children are receiving treatment to help them cut down costs.

On the day thanks to customers and staff the Redditch bike ride raised £1,500 towards the store’s grand total of £3,197.
