THE coffee and cake went down a treat when Heart of England Mencap held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support last Friday.
Organised by activities co-ordinator Katie Berry at Studley Methodist Church, business was so good at one stage there wasn’t a spare seat to be had. Mencap offers two weekly sessions at the church for adults with learning difficulties and Katie said all the users enjoyed the experience.
“They kept the cakes flowing and really helped out, and it was good for them to see so many people – the feedback we’ve had has been really good,” she said.
Mencap runs classes in a wide range of topics for users as well as offering a social get-together.
In total £184 was raised for Macmillan and there are plans to hold further coffee mornings in the future.
