THE Midwifery Service of the Year award has been won by nearby South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Awarded by the Royal College of Midwives, the annual accolade recognised the Trust for its work in introducing a new model of care for women across South Warwickshire, including Studley and Alcester.
The model focuses on providing continuity of care, which has made services safer and care more personalised to women and their families.
Maternity care is now provided by a small team of midwives and women have a named midwife for all of their one-to-one appointments. This enables mums-to-be to build a strong relationship with their midwives before, during and after the birth of their babies.
Sarah Noble, Head of Midwifery at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted we have won this award, it is fantastic recognition for how well our teams have embraced this new way of providing maternity care.
“In South Warwickshire we are all very passionate about putting women at the centre of their pregnancy journey and being able to provide personalised, holistic care.
“Continuity of care leads to better outcomes for both mums and babies by empowering women to feel more in control of their pregnancy.”
To support women further, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trust has set up dedicated and secure Facebook groups for pregnant women has helped reduce pregnancy related anxieties by being able to provide regular and timely updates, as well as offering a platform for peer-support.
