REDDITCH’S role as an ‘anti tank island’ will be among the subjects covered at the next meeting of Redditch Military History Society.
Ron Gallivan will be the speaker and he’ll be talking about the Home Guard, focusing less on the ‘Dad’s Army’ send up and more on the very real role of the defence of the West Midlands in general and Worcestershire in particular.
He’ll cover the why, when and how it came into existence and how it was organised and trained on a national level.
It’s on Wednesday, November 21 at 7.30pm at St Luke’s Church Hall (The Bridge), Evesham Road, Headless Cross. Entry is £4 and visitors are welcome.
