Millcroft in Bloom Competition judged by Redditch Mayor

RESIDENTS and staff at Millcroft Care Home welcomed Mayor of Redditch, Joanna Kane, to judge the home’s spectacular Millcroft in Bloom garden competition.

The day saw managers divide staff into teams, with each group transforming a different section of the care home’s garden.

From sensory spaces and fairy-tale inspired displays to flourishing vegetable patches, the creativity and teamwork on display turned the gardens into a vibrant outdoor haven for residents to enjoy throughout the summer months.

The competition began on April 1, giving teams just one month to complete their garden areas. Staff and residents worked side-by-side to bring their ideas to life, with one team even creating a pond that is now home to tadpoles.

After careful consideration, the Mayor selected Tom Davies, maintenance operative and Jennifer Skyba, front of house manager’s team as the winners for their outstanding sensory garden.

The winning team received an afternoon tea prize, donated by Studley Castle.

The Mayor Joanna Kane praised the efforts of everyone involved.

He said: “It was very hard to choose the winner as I can see all the hard work that’s gone into making the garden look as amazing as it does.

“The sensory garden really stood out to me so I had to choose them as the winners.”

Jennifer added: “A great time was had by all teams working together for the benefit of all residents.”
