More patrols for Studley are requested

OFFICERS are to step up patrols around Studley village hall and the former youth club following the latest community priorities vote organised by the Alcester Police North safer neighbourhood team.

The initiative topped the public poll with 312 votes and will be given dedicated extra attention over the next three months.

Also joining it are the second and third placed initiatives, namely to launch extra patrols to deter flytipping, illegal fishing and general nuisances in Earlswood (140 votes) and extra retail patrols across the entire Alcester North area to deter shoplifting, cashpoint crime and pick pocketing (25 votes) which is a particular problem in Studley.

The results of the last priority voting were:

1) Patrols around schools – which led to 42 extra patrols resulting in four drivers being spoken to regarding their parking and moved on. Visible presence deterred any further offending.

2) General crime prevention patrols – Two visits were made to a coffee morning in Studley and crime prevention advice provided to people attending. Burglary packs issued to victims of crime and neighbouring properties during house to house visits.

Visits were also made to residents providing crime prevention advice. Shed alarms, van alarms, window alarms and timer switches were all issued.

3) Patrols around Henley railway station – in all 54 extra patrols were conducted at various times throughout the day and passengers spoken too.

During one evening patrol, Special Constables located some high spirited people and remained at the station until they had got on the train and had left the station.
