A MAN from Redditch has completed his fundraising mission for his best friend who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Kenny Hadley pledged to raise £20,000 for Andy Biddle and his family to help the financial burden after Andy has passed away, but has smashed that target raising more than £26,000.
He cycled on a spin bike last Friday (April 26) at David Lloyd’s, Bromsgrove, for a distance of 123.7miles which is the distance between Villa Park and Stamford Bridge.
In January this year after minimal symptoms, Andy was given 16 months to live.
He embarked on chemotherapy with an aim to reduce his unpleasant symptoms, but was told he has only weeks remaining due to how aggressive the cancer has become.
Andy and his wife Lauren have four children and Kenny said he was fund-raising to help Lauren and the children stay afloat after Andy’s passing.
He said: “The incredibly hard journey this family will have to face when Andy has gone is unthinkable and I hope, with everyone’s help, we can soften the financial blow with your kind donations.”
Kenny said his ride took him around nine hours, and was a challenge mentally and physically, but he was determined to help support Andy’s family.
“It doesn’t matter how much each donation is, anything will help towards the future of this family who will be losing their loving daddy, it won’t come close to fill that empty void and I truly hope this helps a little.
“I hope the Aston Villa Community and the Redditch community where they both grew up and live get behind this and help me push beyond the target I would like to achieve.”
Within a day of the fundraising page going live, Kenny had already reached over half of the target and now hopes to raise as much cash as possible.
