REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley visited the premises of three of the largest businesses in the town in one day on Monday (February 15).

First of all she went to see Lexon in East Moons Moat. Lexon have established themselves as one of the leading pharmaceutical distributors in the UK and supply independent pharmacies and major groups, including drug stores, chain stores and pharmacy groups.

Karen met with Anup Sodha, one of the directors of the business.

Next stop was FW Thorpe in North Moons Moat, a large manufacturer which specialises in designing and making professional lighting equipment which is sold throughout the world. Here she was shown round by managing director Tony Cooper.

Finally she dropped in on Marubeni-Komatsu, whose UK administration headquarters are in Padgets Lane, South Moons Moat, Redditch. This firm is the sole distributor for Japan-based Komatsu construction and utility equipment in the UK, and Komatsu is the second largest producer of construction equipment in the world. On hand to show her round was Kaz Kondo, Chairman and CEO.

Karen said: “One of the things I really enjoy about my job is going round visiting some of the many successful businesses that have made their home in Redditch and the surrounding villages.

“Between them these three companies alone employ many hundreds of people in Redditch, and it was great to meet managers and chat to the staff to find out more about what these businesses are about and what they like about being based in Redditch.”
