THE new look Greig Leisure Centre in Alcester is to be officially opened this coming Friday, August 6, by Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi.
The centre was acquired by Stratford District Council from the Greig Trustees on January 31, 2020.
However after closing it for a month to improve facilities and do safety checks, it was forced to close again just weeks later in March with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Run by the Everyone Active, the centre now boasts a brand new outdoor floodlit 3G football pitch, a renovated gym, dance studio and sports hall and completely refurbished changing areas, paid for by the district council.
District Councillor Sarah Whalley-Hoggins, who holds the community portfolio said: “The district council is committed to providing first class sport and leisure facilities for everyone to enjoy and was committed to investing in the leisure facilities at the Greig.
“We are, with our contractor Everyone Active, delighted to be able to deliver quality leisure facilities and services at the Greig, encouraging more people to live healthier and active lifestyles, which the residents of Alcester and the surrounding villages will benefit from.”
