REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has once again met with health trust leaders in her bid to get key health services returned to the Alexandra Hospital.
Following the meeting she said: “Health bosses haven’t completely dismissed out-of-hand my calls for services to be returned to the Alex.”
The MP had met with Matthew Hopkins, the chief executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as part of her ‘working group’ discussions.
“I was re-elected to fight to return a maternity and children’s service to the Alex, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing,” she said.
“At times during this pandemic it was right that these discussions were put on hold.
“But now more than 80 per cent of adults in Redditch have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, and now that we’re learning to live with this virus, it’s right I once again begin engaging with health bosses on the issue of returning services.
At last week’s meeting, Rachel once again asked Trust bosses about improving the healthcare provision for children at the Alex.
“There are multiple examples from across the country of Trust’s running two hospitals which both provide maternity and children’s services,” she said.
“If it’s possible in other parts of the country, then it should be possible here in Worcestershire.”
