REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean recently met with the Football Foundation to discuss how its funding has transformed grassroot facilities in Redditch.

Last week, the MP joined chief executive, Robert Sullivan, and the leader of Wychavon District Council, Coun Christopher Day, at Inkberrow Football Club which has received investment from the foundation.

Since 2000, the Football Foundation, the Premier League, The FA and the Government’s charity, has invested £1.3million in the constituency through 88 grants, helping to support 125 individual teams.

Mrs Maclean said she saw how the Football Foundation’s investment in Inkberrow, totalling £630,000, was boosting participation in sport and was helping boys, girls, men and women to stay active.

She said: “It’s always great to see first-hand how investment benefits communities and improves people’s lives.

“And that’s certainly the case in Inkberrow with the investment in grassroots facilities at the football club thanks to funding from the Football Foundation and Wychavon District Council.

“Their facilities are used by boys and girls, men and women of all ages and from all backgrounds, truly making sport accessible for all.

“I look forward to working with the Football Foundation and our local councils to continue improving access to grassroots sport facilities for people across our constituency.”
