Much-loved Nan's the inspiration for Sam's latest release

THERE’S not many songwriters who will pen a number dedicated to their Nan – but that exactly what Sam Ostler from Redditch has done – and it’s a winner.

Sam’s piano-driven ballad ‘Capture This’ is out on all streaming services now and it’s in honour of his Nan Sylvia who lives in Hockley Heath.

“I had a line that came to, ‘capture this on a photograph’ and I thought about my Nan and her life and it just flowed from there,” said Sam, who when he’s not writing songs works at Attwell Farm Park near Bransons Cross.

“It’s really a song about all the people in your life whom you never really think about because they’re always there supporting you and it’s only when you pause and think, that you realise how important they are to you.”

With nice harmonies and a catchy hook, Sam’s already had positive feedback from the likes of Smooth Radio and Radio 2.

“I’d always wanted to write something personal and I was just tinkling away on the piano and suddenly it came to me,” he said.

“The next thing you know I had the bulk of the song written down in 20 minutes, it just happened.”
