Multicoloured paving ' is just the start of the Redditch town centre transformation'

THE PATHWAY from Redditch Railway Town Centre is now much more welcoming for visitors, thanks to the installation of some brightly-coloured paving.

The vibrant transformation has enhanced Unicorn Hill and Church Green West and more is to come with expanded cycle lanes, revamped footways, stylish new cycle parking, and added conveniences like benches and bins.

In a move to enhance accessibility, new loading bays and disabled parking spaces will be introduced on Unicorn Hill, along with limited daytime waiting spaces at the top of the taxi rank. To ensure the safety and flow of traffic, loading will now be confined to the designated bay.

Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Coun Marc Bayliss said he was excited about the impact these changes will bring.

He said: “I’m thrilled to see these improvements taking shape in Redditch.

“They’ll significantly enhance the look and feel of the town, while also supporting local businesses and residents.

“This is a major investment in the future of Redditch, helping to ensure long-term economic growth and prosperity for everyone.”

Redditch Borough Council Leader, Coun Joe Baker, added: “We are committed to creating a town which our residents are proud to call theirs.

“The fact that these works will mean more people can access Redditch, is brilliant.”

Work on Unicorn Hill began in July, along with the upgrades to Church Green West, are expected to be completed by the summer.

Pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained throughout, so local shops and services will remain open for business.

As the project nears completion, some overnight closures will be necessary to resurface the road, ensuring a smooth, polished finish to the area.

This ambitious project is a collaboration between Worcestershire County Council and Redditch Borough Council, who together secured Government Town Deal funding to bring these and other plans to life in Redditch town centre.
