Music in your living room with Redditch's Lockdown Live Lounge

FIRE up Facebook this coming Sunday for the latest online gig from Redditch’s very own Lockdown Live Lounge.

The brainchild of Dec Brock and partner Alice O’Connor, both sides of the duo Get A Grip, they’ve been running concerts on the world wide web since lockdown first bit back in March.

And the shows have grown so big even the BBC has come knocking to discover the secret of their success.

“At the start it was tough, being a musician and knowing loads of other musicians and being unable to play,” said Dec. “Then I think it was Elton John did a live performance online and we thought, hey, we could do that too.”

Starting off with a few local bands and singer songwriters, the appeal of Lockdown Live Lounge has grown to the extent it now offers an eclectic mix of poetry, stories and music too, and this Sunday’s show will be no different.

“I think this will be the sixth one we’ve done,” said Dec. “It’s all free and this Sunday we have ten acts including Laurie Wright who must be one of the hardest working musicians out there, in fact we’re amazed we’ve got him.”

Lockdown Live Lounge is this Sunday, January 24 from 4pm to 10pm and it’s free.
