Musical bid to support Alvechurch charity, Baby Ava’s Support Foundation

AN Alvechurch charity which helps bereaved parents all over the world is on the brink of releasing a pop single.

The single, ‘Angel in the Rain’, will raise money for the Baby Ava’s Support Foundation and is set to be released on Sunday, October 8, with all proceeds going to help the charity continue its work.

Richard Atkinson from Alvechurch lost his baby daughter Ava just hours after she was born in May 2014, and following his family’s loss, Richard felt compelled to do something to help others going through the same experience.

In 2015, Richard set up The Baby Ava Support Foundation to create memory boxes for parents who have suffered the loss of a baby.

“As a family we have taken much comfort from a memory box we were given at the hospital,” said Richard.

“Unfortunately the charity that supplied our memory box stopped making them, so I took it upon myself to start making my own memory boxes so that parents received them to help ease the pain and give some comfort.

“For a parent that has suffered the loss of a baby, these boxes mean so much.”

Boxes include items such as hand and foot cast kits, candles, blankets and a keepsake bag for a lock of the child’s hair. The Foundation supplies the boxes free of charge to families who have suffered the loss of a baby, and must continually fund raise to order to do so.

The voice behind the single, Hayley Maria, originally from Alvechurch, will be opening the Foundation’s Winter Ball in November with the song.

The luxury Winter Ball on November 18 will be held at Nailcote Hall, complete with a drinks reception and three-course dinner.

There will also be a raffle and auction, with prizes including week-long holidays in Florida villas, trips to Cyprus, and a stay in a Devon cottage, raising more vital funds for the charity which now supplies memory boxes all over the world, including America and even Australia.

Tickets cost £70 or £650 for a table of 10. Visit http://www.babyavasfoundation.org or contact Richard on 07703 826931 to purchase tickets.
