Musical world record attempt

MUSIC was the theme of the day for pupils trying to break a world record attempt.

Students from Walkwood C of E Middle School were among thousands across the country who sang their hearts out and used sign language as part of the sign2sing fund-raising event by SignHealth.

Last year the charity set the existing world record of 144,503 people taking part in schools and choirs around the country.

The event raised tens of thousands of pounds, to help give deaf children the same healthy future as their hearing friends.

Steve Powell, SignHealth’s chief executive, said learning some basic sign language through music brings deaf and hearing children together and breaks down communication barriers.
